Multi-effect help

So im planning to buy a multi effect processor soon.

the zoom b1x is the cheapest option, only the zoom 2.1u has a usb port hence im slightly more inclined towards it as i would not have to buy a separate usb interface to record and since im usually not playing live and pretty much just jamming with a drummer,i dont know whether its wise to spend more for a line 6 bass floor pod.

The Zoom pedals are much more flexible effects-wise than the Floor Pod. The Floor Pod may have "better" amp modeling but the Zooms have better and more tweakable effects overall. Plus their amp models aren't too shabby either as far as that goes.

Are you looking for just effects or also amp modeling?

Good luck. I can't even figure how to use my Korg so I've given up. It makes me furious so the h*!! with it. Guess its individual stomp boxes for me.

I have sound samples of the zoom b2.1u and the line 6 bass floor pod on my soundclick website. here's the link.

www.soundclick.com/crystalman85

Both great sounding bass multi-effects processors. I vote for the zoom b2.1u mainly because it's got more variety of amp models and effects than the line 6 bass floor pod. I hope my sound samples helps you out.

The B2.1u offers so much more than the B1x it should be a no brainer: slightly better effects and samples, more user controllable parameters, USB recording interface, Cubase LT, DI/XLR output, metal case and better jacks and the ability to use an external pedal for bypass other parameters or tap tempo.
I have a G1x and it is a great pedal but there is no comparison.

I tried the b1x but couldnt get a ring mod accented voice anywhere near as nice as my Zoom Player 2000B got. My B9.iut however does that fine with lots of tweaking and experimenting to get it there. The latter also unlike most other units has a more musical flanger and delays to my ears somehow. But if you cant afford the B9.1ut w2ith a little more saeving up, then the B1 should be concidered and tried.

If budget is the main thing, I guess I'd go with the B1x. I have one, don't use it anymore, pretty much hated it most of the time I used it, although a couple of amp sims sounded not too bad IMO.

I've never used the B2.1u, but I do use the A2.1u for my acoustic guitar set-up and can get good sounds out of it, so I'm guessing the bass version has got to be somewhere near that.

Thanx for all the replies and the links.Budget really is not an issue because i can buy the floor pod as well as zoom b2.1u without any hassles, however the b2.1u offers a usb port which is a plus over the floor pod,but the floor pod has better tone i think...Im a total n00b as far as effects and amp modeling are concerned and i just want to make the wiser choice between the b2.1u and the floor pod.

I'm still not clear on your priorities, modeling/effects. If it's modeling, get a X3 Live. If it's effects, get an M9 or M13. If it's $, get a Zoom B2.u

I would spend a little extra cash and get the Boss ME-50b, It does everything well, and is gig tough, but then again I like knobs and hate buttons/menus. I got mine used for $125 on the bay. Happy hunting.

My experience with the Zoom B2 was that the effects were really pretty decent. There's a nice selection of delays and some crazy stuff. The filter wasn't too bad either. Sometimes the phaser was a bit noisy, but that may have had something to do with my house's wiring. The amp models were quite usable. I can't say how accurate they were but I liked the Tube Pre, Sansamp, Bassman, and Ampeg models. One thing about them is they don't have modeled tone controls. Each model has the same controls, (gain, blend, and volume) and the two eq modules each have either 3 fixed bands or one parametric band.

ehhhhhh.... at least in my experience, modeling is rarely a plus or at least good amp modeling is very rare.

I use the AG Ampeg model or bM Bassman tone almost all the way down, cab 2 boost the lows on the EQ and cut the upper 2 bands, 3k & 8k way back leaving 1k alone for clarity.
