Question multi-power supply

Sign in to disble this ad
i'm working on building a pedal collection, and i'm probably going to need a pedal board soon. i've been looking at some options for powering the pedals, and this is what ive come up with so far:

option A: get a powered pedal board like the Gator Pedal Tote. Looks like a solid board with a multi-output power supply. it's inexpensive and well reviewed, but it looks like it doesnt offer much protection for transport... i dont want to have to re-velcro all my pedals and fiddle with all the knobs every time i take them somewhere.

option B: get a Rondo pedal case and a separate multi-power supply, like a Dunlop DC Brick. Would be a little more expensive, but looks like it would offer a lot more protection.

option C: get a Rondo pedal case and a "daisy chain" power supply. cheapest option. i'm not sure i entirely trust these things, they basically look like a regular 9V power supply with multiple jacks on the same cord, but the price is tempting... will it do the trick?

advice please! thank you.

You'll want to search on "power" or "supply" here to read a lot about the popular options used. One thing I can tell you is that the Dunlop Brick is nothing great, and most supplies built into cheap pedalboards are not good either.

Look up the Godlyke Powerall and the Onespot for daisy chains that are decent, and the Voodoo Labs PPII and T-Rex Fuel Tank Jr. for pro-quality brick supplies.

cool man, thank you.

i'll probably start out with a daisy chain and see how it works... maybe upgrade to a Fuel Tank Jr eventually.

i'm sticking with 1-spots myself. man, i can't tell you how great it is to be rid of those horrible wall warts that weighed 2 pounds and we were lucky if they could power 2 or 3 pedals. and even if you could power more pedals, one of them would be wrong for it and you'd need yet another one. thank god there's a little standardization these days and smaller power supplies.

I'm with Jimmy on this one.

I use OneSpot myself on my pedalboard to power up 8 pedals.

Take no space on your pedalboard and it does the job very well as well.
