Multifx in fx chain?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm using a Zoom B1X for a handful of cool sounds I can get through it within my little chain (GEB-7, EHX BBM, CE-5). Opinions on using multifx in an fx chain?

It's all up to personal taste. If it sounds good, it is good.

+1 I used to have the B2 but gradually came to feel that it compressed my sound in a way I didn't like. It sort of made my signal 2 dimensional which is sort of typical of digital multis IME. For a while I had it in a bypass loop. I do sort of miss it's processing power and flexibility.

IMO the Zooms are perfect for that because of how small they are. I was using a G2.1u for a while in a parallel loop for it's versatility. It works pretty good as a 'everything else' pedal. I have my HOG, English Muff'n and Q-tron+, and I use my Zoom for 'everything else.' Eventually you may decide to move on, but there's nothing wrong with what you have now.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I have a B2.1u as the anchor of my pedal board, using it for basic amp sounds with a touch of reverb as well as special efx patches. My other efx are in a loop before the Zoom and I find it plays pretty well with most other pedals. For most gigs it's just the Submarine & B2.1u.
