Just thought this might be of interest to some. Maybe a new tone to chase that will actually be from a bass?

The first song they're leaking part of from the new album has a very nice fuzz. It's nothing too exciting, but I was wondering if anyone knew how to get something close?

In search of an Akai DI tone.

Still, I'm very intrigued. As for his tone in USoE, it sounds very Chris. That is to say, not any different from tones he's had previously. And, since they've already finished the album, it seems these will be the effects he will use live, and not on the album, now that I think of it.

Edit: If you didn't know already, that tone sounds like a blended Russian Muff and possibly his Animato Distortion (which is a ProCo RAT clone), also blended, which is a pretty common tone of his.

The version on the website isn't too quality either. Sounds like 128k at best, I would wait for the album to come out before any serious tone nitpicking is done.

I havent been this excited for a new album since DMB's Groo Grux King.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited too. I already learned the bassline to this latest leak of theirs, and the rest of the song should be done tomorrow, as soon as someone goes and picks up the USB stick in Hong Kong and finishes the treasure hunt, albeit Matt did say "The US will play a key role in the unification process."

But, there's another thread for this discussion already, and I won't burden this one with my fanboyishness.
