Does anyone have any experience with Musictronics Mutron III mods? The true bypass with LED is a no-brainer but I don’t know whether I should have L Audio do the recalibration (which has been highly reccomeneded among Mutron owners) or have Analog Man put in a trimpot to adjust the sensitivity of the pedal. Does the recalibration just adjust the sensitivity? Would I be better off with the trimpot or would that not achieve the sound of the recalibration…Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

i wouldent get it calibrated. the aged electronics make it sound a bit dirtier, but the calibrated one sounds "what they were supposed to sound like" or what they used to sound like when they were new.
both options will still blow away a Qtron, or most other alternatives. |

LED is optional and purely a preference thing. the calibration mod is preference as well. if you're loving the tone coming out of it, then don't mod it. if you're wanting the "original" tone, get it modded. if you don't know, get it modded.
but modding it doesn't take away the volume spikes. that's what an envelope filter does. you either have to tame by lowering the gain knob, or by playing softer.
i would NOT have analogman touch that pedal, i love his work (he's modded some of my stuff) and i love his pedals, but Richard (L Sound) is THE dude (period, end of story) for mutron stuff. he and the designer/creater (mike beigel) are buds and continue to maintain a friendship and work on new pedal designs together. he knows all the trade secrets, he's the best. |

Trim pot = don't know
I think it's probably the case that you need the recalibration i.e. replace out of spec capacitors etc, regardless. |

i have a mutron coming my way and am interested in the true bypass the most..will have to wait to hear how it sounds if i want it recalibrated or not. |

also i usually sent in other pedals to be worked on with the Mutron stuff, so my receipts aren't a good barometer. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
