MUTE pedal and/or Volume knob pedal BUILD??

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I am getting an Ergo EUB made for me which has no volume knob. I need to change the volume on the bass or at least have it muted when I am not playing. I would use a bypass feature like on the TU-2 but I am using a TU-12 for my tuner instead.

For my EUB setup, I am going from the bass into a Boss GEB-7 graphic EQ into a Boss TU-12 tuner into my amp. I have no way to bypass it.

My question is, are there any mute pedals or switches out there? I am NOT going to use a pedal with an output level at 0 as a mute.

If there aren't any out there, is it possible to build a micro pedal that is dedicated to volume and is controlled with a volume knob? The company Stellartone makes this for a Tone Control, so why not for volume?

PLEASE help me out.

Thanks,
Josh

My experience with my Ergo is that you really need a buffer designed for piezos or else it sounds pretty bad. Plugging straight into an amp provides a bad impedance mismatch which makes it sound very shrill and unappealing. If you are building yourself a volume box, I would go ahead and add in a piezo buffer like this one:

With a buffer like this, the Ergo is a great instrument.

Why not just use a volume pedal?

Plenty of companies make them. The most popular seem to be Ernie Ball, Boss and Visual Sound.
