Sorry - I should've been more clear in my post. I'm wondering if anyone has seen this power adapter mod before?

is it right to say: Mu-Tron III = the mother of all envelope filters?

Yeah, Bootsy used the Mutron. They're pretty cool but not $500 cool. There are newer effects that do just about the same thing only allot less $$$$

I'm not surprised the bi-polar line that goes to the pedal was changed. Over time the original rubber coating becomes brittle (at least mine did) and needs to be replaced. It looks like he replaced the three pronged plug with a 1/4" stereo jack (TRS) which is a smart move and something I'm going to do with mine.

yeah i had one for years, but only used it a few times, verry cool effect! i sold it about 2 years ago for $350, this price seems kinda high. there are so many envelope devices on the market now in the $100-200 range, i would look into those instead. i found mine at a yard sale for $25.....

It's rare to see the power supply being sold with them original Mu-Tron, so perhaps it was just as flimsy as the guy says. Don't see why his having fixed it should be an issue.

You got extremely lucky. This is, unfortunately, the going price for these on ebay. A lot of people want it because it's the original, and it's the same kind of envelope filter used by Jerry Garcia, Stevie Wonder, and Bootsy and others. Should a Lovetone Meatball go for $600 on average on ebay? Probably not, but someone will buy it at that price. Supply and demand.

I've never seen a 1/4'' plug used to transfer (in this case 18V) AC current before.

It's not. The power supply puts out a +9 rail and a -9 rail.
