Mutron III replacement

Sign in to disble this ad
I know this is the holy grail of envelope filters, and that it's irreplaceable. I love the sound of the Mutron it's "felt" through the mix, no matter what instruments are playing along with you. I was wondering if anyone knew something that can come close to a Mutron III. I'm getting some sort of analog delay when I buy a good filter. I would really like an envelope filter that can give me an "underwater" sound but still be able to just give me a bit of a
"wah wah"
Maybe a Q-tron+ ??? :/

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Electro-Harmonix XO Q-Tron+ or the Maxon AF-9. Both run about the same retail and most people say do the best job at replicating the Mutron sound.

No huge volume spikes like with the EH, smaller footprint, responds well for any instrument.

One of those HAZ units might work but they're are rare as hen's teeth these days too.

Unless you wanna pay extra for used ones.

Also a filter with a "spacey" sound. BTW, saw some reviews on Harmony central about the Maxon. Seems people like it better

I'm taking delivery of a Maxon this week. I'll post clips if it helps you and if you can wait that long.

I haven't tried the Maxon, but the QTron is a mighty fine pedal for bass
