MXB M-80

I got one of these cheap on Ebay, as it was advertised as a repair job. Turns out it buzzes a bit if the output jack is waggled around - no sweat! Question: I've looked at the user's manual, but still can't figure out what the Trigger/Gain/Gate controls do. Sure, I can hear the effect on the distortion when I turn up the Gain, but the Trigger and the Gate button have no obvious effect over earphones. Can someone enlighten me? Please?

its a noise gate. it jsut decreases the amount of hiss that the distortion channel creates.

i had a m80 once for a while... IMO the noise gate was a waste of space..
