MXR 10 Band EQ

Hey guys. I tried out this eq at guitar center yesterday on my exact set up and loved it. Loved the range of tones and the freedom i had with picking my own little unique sound. I plan on buying it soon. Either today or tomorrow. The thing is that im always really paranoid when buying new equipment so when i came home i did a little more research on the stomp box. Noticed its designed for guitars. So I guess what im asking is if you guys think this would cover all the important bass frequencies and if you know of a better eq designed for bass.

Like i said, whether its designed for guitar or not i really loved the flexibility i had with my tone and i was able to find a nice warm one within 5 minutes on an acoustic B100. Just wondering what EQs you use and if you think an EQ designed for bass would work better.

I also noticed that the boss GEB7(designed for bass) only goes down to 50hz while the MXR goes down to 31. Anyway, let me know whats up guys!

MXR M-108

IME the MXR 10 band eq is a great pedal, I think a parametric eq like the Empress would be better for bass, but is also more than twice the price. Another thing is the MXR does NOT run on batteries, it is 18v and you have to consider that when you setup.

Lots of gain, great adjustability in the lows/ low mids, the gaps between the mid and upper freq points makes it harder to adjust upper mids and highs with precision.

I like parametric eq's better for this reason, more adjustability, easier to pinpoint a certain freq, or raise/lower a "shelf".

It is real good at adjusting your normal setup for diff rooms, but I can do that with my pre-amp.

again Great pedal, one of the nicest EQ pedals I've used, just not the best choice for me personally.

Good luck in your tone journey.

It is designed for bass as well as guitar (31.25 Hz!) but, as mowburger says, you might want more control over the mids. Unless you scoop them, in which case you're probably fine.
18V shouldn't be a problem if you're using a stand-alone adaptor anyway.

I believe gain is pre-EQ and the volume is post-EQ.

I sold mine and got a Boss GEB-7 which I prefer as it's much easier to dial up a sound, I found the MXR needed much more drastic fader moves compared to the Boss.

Is there an EQ with easy to switch user defined presets?
