MXR 82 envelope filter question..

Sign in to disble this ad
I have the bass mxr82 filter.. i love it but there is a problem..

I notice the FX and Dry is the amount of effects or dry in the sound..

the problem im having is the volume i have on the bass goes too loud when i active the pedal compared to my volume on the amp without it activated...

do the effects and dry knobs effect the intesity of effects or dryness or just the volume? does anyone understand what i mean?

Dry is the clean bass output level, FX is the effected signal output level. Neither of those controls do anything else, but there is some signal boost available. The Decay knob adjusts the resting frequency of the filter; the Q adjusts the resonance of the filter's peak; the Sens knob adjusts the responsiveness of the effect.

And, just as a friendly reminder to everyone:

Think of it as two different sound sources - your bass and the effect - each with a dedicated volume control. If you crank it up you get more output, that's all.
I suggest you turn the FX knob to zero and try to match your bypassed volume to the active output - with the DRY knob. Don't go beyond this point. Then blend in the effect to your liking.
It's a great little pedal BTW.
