| | | | Are we talking guitar or bass version? (MXR auto Q vs. MXR bass auto Q)?
If I remember correctly, someone already put up their clips of the bass version.
I think it was Taystee?
Anyways, I'd get my clips up but unfortunately I'm back at school and all my recording gear (Tascam FW-1884, all my DIs and mics, etc.) is at home :/

| | | Here's a clip I just found (courtesy TBer BOOCAKE4U): http://kyosho.org/crap-circles.mp3
Unfortunately, it looks like Taystee's clips are no longer hosted. I'd check YouTube or something if you want a good idea of what it sounds like. The above MP3 is only a bit of it's magic....it's excruciatingly versatile (it's no Meatball, but it will get the job done for quite a bit less!)...I have spent long hours messing with it. and if you set it right...No volume spikes like the Mini Q Tron has! It's really about getting the range and Q knobs set right for your particular bass and style. I love the thing, and I'll vouch for it 100%, between the filters I've tried (Mini QTron, Micro Qtron, DOD FX25B, Boss ME50B filters, Boss TW-2 T-Wah) I like it the most. I've never had the luxury of using a QTron or QTron + though, and those may or may not be the way to go (they're also extremely versatile).
I know, it's not soundclips, but it's my .02.

These are pretty basic, but this pedal can get pretty wild with the "shimmer" effect (the blend knob). You can get some pretty wild, watery sounds. I'll see if I can post some additional clips tomorrow after work... it's late tonight. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/defa...songID=5312827 http://www.soundclick.com/bands/defa...songID=5312827

I just got home from work. Give me a little bit and I'll dial up some of the wilder settings on the M-188.

Messing with dials: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...songID=6399705
A warbley slap sound: (I left some empty space at the beginning, if you listen closely at the beginning, you can hear the pedal doing it's thing even with no bass signal)http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...songID=6399713
This one is more of what I look for in an envelope filter: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...songID=6399717
In addition to the M-188, I have a Digitech BSW, EHX Micro Q-tron and Ibanez Autowah which I've been swapping in and out of my board based on mood. They're all pretty good pedals, but I'm still on the search for a filter that really makes me say "Holy ***, that's the one!" lol
The next on my list to check out are the BYOC Envelope/Fixed Wah, Boomstick Bottom Feeder and EBS BassIQ. Stupid G.A.S. lol

After recording those clips, I think the MXR is going to go back in the board! Out of the 4 I currently have, I still think I like the MXR the best.
Question for you: Are you talking about the version of "Just Another Story" on Return of the Space Cowboy? I've listened to it three times now and didn't hear an envelope filter. I REALLY dig Jamiroquai's stuff (super funky!) and I thought I had all their albums, even a SICK live show from Sao Paulo Brazil! If this isn't the version you're talking about, can you point me in the right direction so I can go find it? lol

5sg | I have a few bootlegs (audio and video) here including this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWY08D2jjlA
He used the Boss Me-6B for the earlier live stuff and then he moved to the ME-8B.
You can hear the envelope clearly.
Funkay!
I'll PM you with some cool links!
BTW, I live in Brazil and that São Paulo show was amazing!

I've always dug Jamiroquai, but didn't really get into them until the last year or so and since then, they've become a BIG influence for me. Good stuff! I'm looking forward to links!

But seriously, you've never seen a guitar whammy on a bassist's board? or other guitar-specific pedal?
So repeat with me: The name of the box is MXR bass auto q That's all I'm saying.
