Quick question i can't find an answer to anywhere: Can you have the noise gate active without the distortion switch on?

Thanks.

Yes. The gate has it's own switch.

No. The gate is only active on the distortion channel, and only the distortion (not the clean blend) at that. You can have distortion without a gate, but no gate without the distortion.

You can dial the distoration all the way down.. not sure how much the gate really does with this setting.

okay, i'm just wondering if the noisegate will work on the hiss from my other fuzz pedals if they come before it in the chain. Any ideas?

No, it won't help with that. Like I said, it is only functional on the distortion within the M-80. You could set the blend at 100% wet and turn the gain all the way down, but that still gives you some distortion and it absolutely kills your low end.

If you need a noise gate, get the NS-2 from Boss. I have one and it was the best $50 (used) I have ever spent.
