Absolutely. At sound check, you need to let the sound person know how and when you use effects and any other volume and tone changes. For example, is the octave on occasionally, frequently of the time? Does it add a huge volume boost or just a little bump or warmth? Do you run or the FOH a limiter after it?
Sound people don't like to be surprised by drastic volume changes out of nowhere. On the other hand, many of them don't bother to even talk to the musicians about their setup. An open line of communication is the ideal thing.
