MXR Bass Octave Deluxe through the PA question

Sign in to disble this ad
I like the sound of my MXR Bass Octave Deluxe (M288) with all the knobs at noon when playing through my amp but how this will sound through a larger PA. Will it get a little boomy with the fatter tone from the girth? How would you recommend adjusting the settings for a larger PA?

As an example of what I'm after I love this tone:

Largely depends on the PA and the sound engineer. I think the M288 would be a fine choice.

I use a M288 and have never had a problem. The sound guys around here are pretty decent. I really am only using it on one song right now and it does the trick.

Absolutely. At sound check, you need to let the sound person know how and when you use effects and any other volume and tone changes. For example, is the octave on occasionally, frequently of the time? Does it add a huge volume boost or just a little bump or warmth? Do you run or the FOH a limiter after it?

Sound people don't like to be surprised by drastic volume changes out of nowhere. On the other hand, many of them don't bother to even talk to the musicians about their setup. An open line of communication is the ideal thing.
