I just bought a used MXR Bass Octave Deluxe, and upon getting it home noticed it has a slight hiss when turned on. It's not that loud, but it's noticeable. Also, tracking doesn't seem to be as great as most people seem to think here. Does this sound normal, or did I get a lemon?

Isolated power?
Tried using a different outlet?
Different room?

I'm using it with a onespot. Hadn't thought of those yet, I'll try them. Thanks!

And about the tracking.
Some people may experience better tracking than others depending on technique and bass setup. Keep the other strings muted while you're playing, and know that dead spots on the neck can cause the octave effect to sputter out.

One spots can add hum and hiss. Try an isolated supply.
