MXR BOD M288 do anything that my POGs won't?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've currently got a BIG POG, Micro POG, and a POG2 on the way... I guess I like those guys.

Anyways -- will the M288 do anything better/differently than any of the POGs? I don't have that much experience with different types of octave down effects -- apparently the M288 has a dirty oct down & a cleaner octave down?

Been searching & watching demos, what am I missing?

The M288 has two different flavors of octave down. Both with more personality and character than a PoG's. IMHO. The PoG tracks great, but doesn't have the character of other octave pedals. Which is it's flaw.

Fat analog tone. But the POG isn't my cup o' tea so you may hate the way the M288 sounds.

The MXR (or any analog octaver) will rattle the house in ways the POG's can't.

I have both the BOD and a Micropog. The BOD doesn't track as well but has a great tone that sits in the mix better(IMHO) better than the Micropogs Octave down. I use the Micropog with the dry and oct up dimed without any oct down. When I want Octave down I use the BOD.

Thanks everybody, sounds like the 2 are completely different... I guess since I'm just gettin into the details of octavers, it's just a varying as tube screamers, overdrives, etc....

Now, if I could just spot one of these for about $65....

POG=digital. Precise tracking but less tone.
MXR M288= analog. Tone, great one. BTW it tracks like a champ too.

Yeah, the 288 will glitch out where your POGs track with ease. Hahaha.
When it tracks well, it's tone is to die for. It seems like they really vary from unit to unit.

Finally got a chance to turn on the BOD & it is MILES away from my POGS. So, if you are riding the fence about either of these pedals, they are both completely different sounds. Both great in their own way, and both do something the others don't.
