Angry MXR Carbon Copy....BROKEN!

Sign in to disble this ad
So maybe someone can help me out. My Carbon Copy is busted......bypass light doesn't turn on and the pedal itself doesn't work. One interesting thing though......the modulation light does turn on. Does it affect the signal....no. Perhaps it's just the switch? I love the pedal. Glorious sound although i am quite bummed that...it's broken hahaha. Anyone else have issues with theirs? Guess this one is going back to Dunlop under warranty.

Well I know you are common here Chuck so don't take these questions as insults, just trying to get down the the problem.

When did this happen?
Battery or Adaptor?

Hope it gets worked out

I bought a carbon copy last week, wonderful sound, but it worked fine for about 5 minutes, after that I got a loud pop noise every time I turn it off / on, I sent a note to Dunlop , they replied back that I should return it and ask for a new one, so I went to GC and returned it... I left the store with a nova delay instead

yea that's what i'm guessing...hopefully dunlop customer service is good. i heard in other forums that sometimes you have to screw in the back casing tight when the switch is messed up. tried it....and eh didn't work. guess i got a dud. good thing coreyfyfe gave me his receipt. i'm also hoping they can maybe upgrade me to a v2 since i have the v1.

soldering skills? none . going to try and learn soon though

My experience with them in the past has been excellent.

Yeah i just got a classic distortion returned here at my store. Same problem, I was going to take it apart and see what was wrong since I know the basics. Was about to get my ohm meter but the guy was being a dick and left so i was like whatever. Sorry, can't find the solution ;]

i called them. swell guys at the tech support dept. i'm surprised there are only two guys taking care of repairs. it's a long turn around time but at least i'll get the v2 modulation mod done for free. woohoo!

The fact that you spoke to a human first try is always a good sign. They replaced a broken battery door on used pedal for me (free, when I was willing to pay), no questions asked.

Dunlop is awesome. When my M-108 fried a capacitor they replaced it and half the sliders for free.
