Damnit Hairy, stop giving me GAS!

I don't need another gain pedal. I've got THREE already. Not counting A Boss DS1 awaiting payment and a SPF Greenline I've been wanting. UGH!

its basically a bass di with a distortion effect built in as well. there is a stomp for the distortion and another to engage the 'effect' which is basically the eq. there is a color/colour button to 'enhance' the tone as well.

erm, yeah, a DI is not really an effect, but thats always a good place to start...
some people do use it just for the distortion tho. thats never on for me. but thats just me

i agree that its a very good and useful pedal. it's the meat and potato of my sound. i put it at the end of my chain with the COLOR button always "on". it gives me a sweet spot of the eq, a mid scooped sound that goes well with my sadowsky which has a lot of mids. i don't use the distortion, i have a bassdrive and a turbo rat for that. but what you can do is, don't turn "on" the COLOR button for your fingerstyle sound. and use the DISTORTION but the BLEND all the way down, it gives you a good slap sound. cos when you press the DISTORTION, it automatically turn "on" the COLOR button.

iv only had it for a couple days so i dont know all the ins and outs yet, but so far, it shaped my tone to be so freaken aggressive, its a pedal i will keep right at the beginning of my chain and will always be on

Do any of you know if the DI is active (powered) or not? I'm thinking of getting a Carvin LS1503A cab (active PA cab that Greenboy et al have been using successfully as bass cabs). I'd like to use the M-80 as a DI through the XLR input, but it was suggested that this will only work if the DI is active as well. Anyone know the answer or where I could get it? Also, does anyone have any good settings to share?

I'm not sure if it's actually active, but it has phantom power, which I believe means it would be powered from an outside source, through the XLR output. Source could be a powered mixer. It has a switch to engage the phantom power. Hope that helps, I'm not that much of a tech head.

I've had mine for a few years and the other day it picked up a radio station, could it be a dry solder or earthing issue?

Every now and then, I'll want a BDDI again. But then I remember the AGRO.

Maybe someday, I will build the perfect rig. Until then, I shall just dream.

What the #!@* is Spanky talking about?
