Has anyone tried this thing out yet? it looks interesting as i'm in the market for a heavy distortion at the moment. I haven't gotten a chance to try one out yet though i'm going to soon. thanks in advance

my guitarist tried one in the shop a few weeks ago. Since it was guitar it was a different story but the pedal sounded good and it has a lot of variety. But it's a pretty high-gain pedal so you have distortion from 7-10 and nothing less. In the shop the 'scoop' feature sounded good but i dont know about it in a band setting.

For bass i think it would dump the low end off bridge (just a guess)

Other than that is small but has no battery option... and the led could burn into your brain depending on how dark the room is and how good your vision is.

I haven't tried it on bass, but one of my guitarists has it. To me it just sounds dry as hell. Beyond mid scooped sound.

If you see this vid you'll know what i mean:

Though this might work for a guitar in a band setting, I doubt it will work for a bass.
IMHO.

i couldnt get a good sound out of it. mids up.. too honky. mids down.. where'd my signal go? highs are too buzzy. turn it down, now its mud.

idk who would be in line to buy something more annoying than a metalzone. just when mids were coming back in style..

I tried one for a while in a store, couldn't get any low end going with it, even with the scoop off.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm going to keep on the prowl.

besides the metalzones and whatnot, are there any sleepers in the heavy distortion realm on either side of the price scale?

Barber Dirty Bomb & Landmine LD-1 might be something to check out.

The Dirty Bomb is not a high gain distortion. More like an OD. The Landmine, on the other hand...also, Tech 21 XXL Bass Edition and the Aguilar AGRO are good bets.

I've been interested in the agro for a while now. I'm going to check it out on a friend's rig soon but that's where my current gas lies

Look for a Boss HM-2. They go for around $30 and are pretty nice sounding
