MXR M-80 Bass DI power consumption

So what kind of electronic genius invented the power system for this thing? I've had the same 9v battery in mine for well over a year and a half now and it still seems to be going strong. I don't even unplug the input/output cables when not using. It's used almost daily and for several hours per day around 2-3 times per week. How come no other pedal I've ever seen gets this kind of battery life?

My understanding of how D.I.s work is that they have incredibly low power consumption. Had a quick look on the web to see if the pedals stats were posted anywhere but no dice. I'd be interested to hear if there are any TBers out there with different but similar pedals/D.I. that are experiencing the same thing.

Personaly mine is always powered by a multiple power supply, which can cause a bit of noise if the earth pin (in Australia all metal case electronic items are equipped with an earth pin on the socket plug) hasn't been isolated or its attached via daisy chain; unless playing live where I have the option of phantom power.
