MXR M-80 into a MB LMII

I picked up a MXR M-80 Pre/DI today. Works and sounds really good and was easy to get a good tone right away. The amp I'm using is a Markbass LMII and am wondering should you insert the M-80 into the effects return and bypass the LM preamp or just plug it right into the LM instrument input? I know it can be used in either configuration but am hoping for some people's experiences. I've only used it recording through a mixer today. My bass rig is elsewhere. TIA

I suggest you plug the output of the MXR M-80 into the input of the LMII.

FWIW, I generally dont use the amps FX loops with stompbox pedals.

i use my M80 as only a stompedal. Output it to the input of the amp. Amp EQ set flat and use the M80 EQ only. Sound great on all my bass, should say it tame the treble and mid abit on my stingray but i like the tame it does to it haha
