Ok Boys n Gals,
Toying with the idea of purchasing one of these two pedals....have read multiple reviews of both......they each have their supporters and detractors and their pros and cons
at this point i'm leaning towards the MXR simply because it seems capable of producing a few more sounds...
so if you had the chioce which one and why...?

If you're looking for a mic'd up SVT like tone that's clean.
Get the Sans Amp.
If you want a little dirt blended in with your mic'd amp
Get the MXR.
Notes:
The Sans Amp get crackly when gain goes into distortion.
The MXR has a smoother crunch that fades out nicely.
The MXR has two channels, you can get a clean and crunch.
The Sans Amp is also a world class Direct Box.
Good luck with your choice,
Rick |

| | | | Well, as is the case with most effect boxes or amps, you only use one sound at a time (typical player) so pick the one that gives the sound you'd most like to hear. |

What I've noticed with the M-80 is that when it comes to the distortion channel, it sounds more like you have your clean signal, and then there's this second distorted signal. When you futz with the knobs, the device is acting as though you're moving volume knobs on the two channels up and down.
I've also found that while the M-80 produces excellent overall tones, I have an easier time emulating specific amp models with the Sans Amp. |

The Sansamp seems more complicated, but I'm sure it's also a top notch pedal. You can't really go wrong either way.

| | | | I've owned both, but I got a lot more use out of the MXR. It's just more usable for what I want. It really depends on your own taste in sound. |

since I managed to play the Sansamp once and the MXR was a present, cant be of much help but say I like the sounds I get from this pedal and my soundman loves it live!

FWIW the DI seemed a little "stonger" on the various Sansamps than on the MXR. That was the selling point for me, given that I was looking for a good DI first and foremost. The subtler OD the Sansamp gives also appealed to my ear more than the grittier distortion of the MXR, though this part is entirely subjective. Both pedals get a lot of love and there is a reason.
