MXR M87, Microseconds attack?

Hey I just got an MXR M87, and I am confused about the attack knob. Reading the manual it says that it goes from 20 microseconds to 800 microseconds. As an audio engineer I am completely confused. I got this compressor because it has the control of a studio compressor. Microseconds? Who uses microseconds thats so small and insignificant, 20microseconds sounds exactly the same as 800 microseconds to humans we cannot even detect the difference. So its either typo or I am missing something because when playing around with the attack knob it sounds like there is a longer attack time than 800 microseconds. Neither of those lengths will allow any transient through they are just too fast, I dont get it?

i'm pretty sure that they meant milliseconds and not microseconds.
