MXR Micro Flanger level issues...

Sign in to disble this ad
On my chain of effects, I have an MXR Micro Flanger, when I use it, the levels tend to go nuts! Meaning, the volume seems to shoot way up

I am wondering if anyone encountered this issue and what have you done to remedy it.

Thanks!

You could isolate the offending pedal in a loop with a blend feature, or replace the unit with one that works better for you.

I did encounter the same issue when I had one. It wasn't a HUGE spike, but enough to bug me. I thought it was just my partiular combination of gear as I hadn't heard of this problem before, but I have since seen a few people mention this...My clever remedy was to sell the pedal and replace it with a DOD FX72 which was even cheaper. I probably made $15 on the deal, and I like the DOD a LOT better!!!

The MXR did sound nice, though.....

Thanks!
Well, I do love how the MXR sounds and I've never heard of the DOD FX72. I wish there was an output control switch to it.

I will seek the DOD FX72 and try it!

Agreed. There's definitely a volume spike when I engage the pedal, but, personally, I've never found it to be too much of an issue in a band situation.

I'm having the same problem! It is annoying as hell! How could they not have seen this in testing??
Does anyone have a fix?

When you say the level goes nuts, does the level go up and down? Or just way up? Maybe your experiencing resonant peaks. Those can be tamed by turning the 'regen' below noon.
Does it sound distorted when it gets loud? Maybe your bass is overloading the effect.

I've been using the micro flanger for about a month now. It does seem to have a slight volume boost when turned on, but I like that boost, helps push it up front in the mix.
