MXR Octave Pedal or Digitech BP80 Processor?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, I've found okay deals for an MXR Octave Pedal as well as the BP80 processor. While I know the MXR is a good pedal, it's still pretty expensive even when used. The digitech pedal is a bit cheaper and has multiple effects in it, but I imagine they wouldn't be as good quality however having not tried it, I would not know.

I was wondering if anyone had opinions regarding these two products and if anyone could steer me in the right direction as to what would work best. Keep in mind that I stumbled across both looking specifically for an octave pedal, so I'm wondering if there'd be much of decrease in quality from one to the other and if so, whether or not the digitech's added effects would fill that gap.

If you are looking specifically for an octave pedal, then hands down go with the MXR. I would only recommend buying the BP80 of you are new to effects and you want to try a bunch of sounds out to see what you like.

The BP80 and most other multi effects offer octaver sounds, albeit not as good as the MXR or other standalone pedals, but it does a lot of other things as well. As far as Multiefx go Digitech is not my first choice but it will do.

That particular Digitech pedal is made of plastic, but it has tons of fx. The MXR is a great octave pedal, and will last forever. it sounds like you have a certain budget, and just want to buy a new toy,(?), nothing wrong with that, but at least consider what each pedal offers.

I have a Digitech BP80 that's been collecting dust. I bought it because it dirt cheap. It's a toy. A couple amp models are decent and that's about it. Even in a bypass mode, the BP adds a little bit of noise.
