a great guitarist was in the studio today, and had the new MXR stereo chorus, and i gotta say, it sounded amazing. crazy pitch bending mayhem, and totally thick, with a 2 band EQ for the chorus... i don't know if it is analog or digital, but it sounds really thick.

There is a switch that removes the chorus from the low end which is pure genius as it allows your overall tone to remain in tact and add lush shimmering chorus to the mids and highs. This feature really works well with bass.
I love the bass and treble controls as they really allow the tone of the effect to be varied. Its important to realize that the eq contols the effect only and not the overall tone.
I think some people are put off by the price as this chorus is close to $200 in Canada and it requires 18volts which is a pain. But those are the only negatives I can find except that its a bit larger then a standard Boss type pedal. The bypass is good but not true bypass.
The MXR chorus is dead quiet. There is no added noise at all and is has a really cool, metallic yellow finish. I love mine and am sure that eventually more bass players will discover it as a really good mid priced chorus for bass that really sounds fantastic.

Anyone who knows my playing knows that I like wierd sounds, and I was thinking that I needed a pitch vibrato to create a detuned oscillator sound, but this pedal sounded like it could give me what I need. Good to hear that it sounds good on bass. Bummer about the 18 volts, but whatever...

A friend of mine gets some great stuff with the pitch vibrato setting on the basic Dunlop reissue with his bass. It sounds pretty impressive after the Bass Micro synth. |

so many pedals, so little time.
