My Custom Wah from Wilson Effects SOUNDCLIPS

Sign in to disble this ad
Just got my custom wah right now, plugged it in and I recorded myself trying it out so here you go:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...songID=9251548

That's with fuzz, which is how I intend to use this pedal. Two times through the riff, and then I kick in the wah.

The wah is similar to Kevin's Bass Q Wah, with the vintage spec tropical fish cap upgrade, but there is a blue LED and there are no external knobs, just trim pots, so I don't bump my special settings! Kevin was also nice enough to socket the sweep cap and send me some other values to try, but I'm liking it a lot with whatever's in there now!

I think it sounds great! What do you think?

I think it sounds really good, and that you might be done with your search for pedals?

Yeah I'd say I'm done for now. This wah is perfect so I'm set on that front. But I am going to buy the new EHX Germanium NKT275 overdrive/distortion when that hits.

Also, here's a clean clip of the wah:

Glad to hear that Kevin is still working on wah pedals. He makes some great effects! Makes me wish that I still had a use for mine in the music that I play.

The clean clip is the deal sealer right there! If I was going to use still use a wah, I would have to take this one out for a whirl.

Thanks guys!

I assume you're referring to the chrome Morley? I think this wah has a much more musical sweep, making it much easier to use. After trying some other wahs, I'm not a big fan of the Morley stuff.

Kevin is a great guy to work with, talk to him, he'll hook you up.

The Freaker is my choice if you want to use it with fuzz and go low, low, low! Super deep and heavy with fuzz, kind of funky in a synthy way clean which may or may not be appropriate for what you want. If you want good classic clean wah sounds as well, as I do, this one is the winner for that, and it sounds great with fuzz too, though the sweep doesn't go as low as the Freaker the way I set it up. This one sounds more traditional whereas the Freaker is a little more out there.

Here's the custom wah with my Vox AC4TV8, the tiny little 8" combo for a little tube breakup. The Vox isn't even broken in yet but it doesn't seem to mind. Lots of chewy wah action:

Thanks Mark, that about sums it up. I've got the freaker and love it, but am curious about this beast too. Now if you excuse me I'm going to plug into the Vox AC4 head and combo my buddy left in my basement!!!

Sounds great. Really dig your first clip with the fuzz. Which one are you running?
