My Dunlop Crybaby 105q is not wahing

I haven't used this pedal in years and I plugged it in today. The signal was passing through and I was playing bass fine and then I began to use it and......no wah effect! When I pushed down on the pedal all the way down it was just putting down the volume and when I would let it go it would be back to normal. I messed with the settings on the pedal putting the variable q all the way up and messed with the volume but still no wah sound. I want a wah sound from my wah pedal. I was really excited to use it once again coupled primarily with my boss odb-3 but it was really disappointing that it didn't work. This pedal tends to be pretty expensive and I am hoping there is a cheap way of repairing it. If anybody knows anything about this please please please help. for my crybaby

Did you check the batteries? My 105q burns through batteries quickly and does not work right with weak batteries. That pedal is not expensive at all though. You can get a used one for less than 50 bucks. I've even seen them for $25.

I haven't been lucky enough to find used ones that cheap. I plugged into the power supply and it did the exact same thing so it wasn't the batteries.

...unless the power supply was dud, or the wrong type. If I were you I'd definitely try it with a new battery.

I bought a used 105q bass wah a couple of years ago, it was an older design. It would pass signal and wah, but it added a very high pitch squeal in the toe down position. Dunlop said they would fix it for $50, flat rate. A new one is a little over $100, and I paid less than $50 for it used, so I sent it in. After two weeks, and their assurance that it could be repaired, I got a brand new one in the mail. Turns out they couldn't figure out what was wrong, and after so much time on a bench it became cheaper for them to sent me a new one. I'm happy.

My point is, they were good to their word, and it cost me $50. And yes, it is an awesome and fun pedal, you will enjoy it when it's working again. Peace, JBY

I really liked the vocal qualities of my 105q until I realized what a tone sucker it is. I'm using it for now because it's all I have, but I'd like to find something with true bypass, like a wilson. Maybe with a bypass looper I'd like it better.

I also tried different batteries so that was not the problem. I sent Dunlop an e-mail describing what was wrong with it and they told me I had to replace the pot. A new pot will cost me about 30 bucks so I might just order it and put it in myself. I opened it up already and it doesn't look very complicated...

I agree it is a bit of a tone sucker but its also all I got and the wah effect is pretty cool.
