Today I was on the phone with Sweetwater getting my new Rotosound 77 flats and a new string winder when I decided to ask about the Tech 21 SVT bass pedal. I knew the pedal was too much for me to afford because i just wrote a check for $1750 for my upright bass... so I was disappointed to hear it was so costly.
Then, the sales rep whom I had met on saturday when i went down and got a tour of the facility mentioned the Hartke Bass Attack. He told me to check it out on youtube, because its a similar product, only it has DI capabilities and costs a measly (compared to something expensive) $100.
I checked it out, and loved it. It sounds really similar to the SVT pedal in the demo with the ability to provide a nice, subtle tube overdrive, which is exactly what I'm looking for. I called him back about 45 minutes after getting off the phone with him.
So, my first impulse buy with effects pedals. I kept telling myself that I would wait until the check has cleared for the upright, but something was telling me that I should just get it now while i'm working. Unfortunately, my parents might get upset that I'm apparently spending money like it's going out of style, so I need a good excuse as to why I need it. The whole "Mom, what if the whole debt ceiling thing goes to pieces and currency becomes outdated; I'd be stuck with all of this cash!" excuse has already been brought up when i mentioned how much bass strings are... Maybe I'll have to try that one again.
Anyway, do any of you guys use the hartke bass attack? I've heard pretty good things, but it would be nice to be reassured that my purchase was a good one
