My Fuzzy Wuzzy Custom Dream

Sign in to disble this ad
So I got the plan finalised in my head today I'm just waiting for builders to come back to me on prices and what they have in stock.

I'm going to be having 5 or more custom enclosures in a wedge shape (Prism I) made from pedalenclosures.com these will all be in custom colours representing the fuzz inside them. All fuzz's will have no led, no dc in so battery only, knobs on the top side where the jacks are leaving the top of the pedal with only the footswitch.

So far I will be having

Silver Vein - Custom cap modded SFX Bass Colorsound Fuzz
Green Hammer - Big Muff modded to Swollen Pickle Specs with Defeatable Tone Control (Need to find a builder)
Black Mist - Shin Ei Companion Fuzz (Ghost FX)
Blue Hammer - Bass modded Ge Fuzz Face (Ghost FX)

Then if possible
Purple Hammer - Rehoused Mojohand Huckleberry V2 Si/Ge Hybrid Fuzz Face
Red Hammer - Rehoused Subdecay Tomato Si Fuzz Face

This may seem a bit crazy but in reality it's going to work out the same as buying a stock pedal or less and it will have a far more tailored feel for what I want.

I may not bother with the Tomato rehouse as its the fuzz that's sitting on my synth board.

The Huckleberry I've already had Tone Factor agree to sell me just a board if I don't want to have mine taken apart.

I'm still torn on the whole 9v in and led, I love the vintage vibe and I don't want to do anything thats going to mess with the circuit you know more than wacking some big caps and stuff in there or add jacks in annoying places like the side. I was considering LED's near the jacks so if on stage they would shine at the audience and get the jacks to match the casings.

But any comments or recommendations for mods, additional features etc, is the colour scheme wrong?

What, your itty bitty M9 isn't cutting the proverbial mustard these days, Ste?

Your FX brain is on another level.

So wasting money and polluting are worth the extra hassle and vintage vibe? Also use an LED. The circuit itself won't notice the difference.

Maybe put the power jacks on the bottom rather than omitting them? If they're placed correctly you could still use them with a Pedaltrain type board.

You need to keep up, I sold the M9 a while ago I'm now on my binge pedal period, I do have an M13 coming but my intention is to use it more as a looper than fx processor. This setup is for jamming with fuzz, wah and a medium sized tube amp I feel my tone is rooted in fuzz so I really want to get to a point where I feel I have a really unique voice playing rock bass for people.

Interesting I might hit him up, I'm basically going off the BYOC Swollen Pickle Grygrx sold Higgie that has a 4 position tone selector, it might just be a BYOC Large Beaver with no tone but open to options on getting the best muff sound possible.

I did consider that in my sleep last night, I might throw it out there to the builders I just have to do some measurements and make sure it doesn't get too cramped. I'd like to get all 4 of the huck knobs and the 2 jacks on the top I mean that is going to be a real squeeze.

The reality is apart from the fuzz's will last near years on a battery this is for a simple wah and fuzz setup and I can just grab which ever wah I'm feeling that day

I'll think more on the power, the led is the other niggling issue, it would be handy but on some of these layouts space is at a real premium unless all the top has is an led and a footswitch.

Anyway I'm going to place my order for the enclosures today/tomorrow and then start sending them out to builders.

Think the ge fuzz face will be the first build.

Can someone point me in the direction of a Swollen Pickle Schematic?

Cases are about to be ordered

Green Hammerite
Fuzz Blue
Silver Hammerite
Red Hammerite
Purple
Black Mist

Ghost FX will start my ge fuzz face soon

SFX have said he'll build the muff assuming I can get a schematic of exactly what I want.

Know I need to decide on the knobs for the lot and figure a way to rehouse the Flying Tomato (Gonna make it a 3 knob fuzz, gain, vol and treble, with bass and bias cranked internally on trim pots)

Awesome

Is this something you'd have time to build Mr Muff King?

sfx can probably get it to you quicker than I can. I'm swamped right now with the run of 10 Grey Staches we're doing.

That's a good thing man

I've emailed the page to sfx so I'll await a quote, I'll probably have the Shin Ei done next so that's the Ghost Fx ones done together and the SFX ones can be done together as well.

I don't want to search anything with that pedal's name here at work, but I'm curious to know the other values of the components in the rest of pedal...as in what BMP version it's designed from.

All I can tell from the tone stack is that there's still a mid scoop, similar to the Ram's head. Looks like less bass, more treble.

Good News: Enclosures Arrived

Bad News: Wrong Enclosures

Between the shipping and import duty and the potential return shipping and then import duty again and the obvious huge shift in timeline, I think I'm just going to buy some stock items from these builders and sell these enclosures on ebay.

FYI I got the YY enclosures instead of the Prism I's

I'm waiting to see what pedalenclosures offer but being an international customer it's likely to be something that will involve a cost and some effort on my part.

Dream crushed

Well already pedal enclosures have refunded me my customs charges, I've offered that if there is a uk builder than can use them I'll send them on to them and then get the enclosures I wanted, though this time I'll only get 4.

Try to sell them on D*A*M forum. They are well known there and some builders use them.

What colours did you get?

Silver Hammerite
Red Hammerite
Gloss Purple
Green Vein
Black Sparkle
Fuzz Blue

All the colours are perfect and lovely, just wrong box. Am actually tempted to just go ahead with these, they certainly will work out smaller than the wedges in the future.

Just not as cool
