Unhappy My Goat and Phaser aren't getting along!

Sign in to disble this ad
I've found a nice setting on the PH-3 that I can just switch between Rise, Fall, and the 10 Stage mode and get an epixness, solomness or subtle trippyness out of it with the Hema. At a unity volume no less

But with the Goat, it goes all to hell: Volume spikes (and yes the Goat is at unity), not-so-subtleness.

I suspect its the small upper octave effect of the Goat that a lot of people hate. Personally I love the Goat, and the fact that I managed to keep it on the board and add the PH-3.

Any advice on taming this hellspawnish effect?

Divinely

I got the Rate at 10 o'clock, the Depth at max, and the Resonance at min. I just switch between the 3 modes Rise, Fall, and 10 (stage).

EDIT: Oh and messing around with the PH-3 a little more, the depth controlls the max out of phase "distance", its not a mix.

My bad

Fuzz is a funny thing. Try running a Compulator after a Blowtorch and it will kill the Blowtorch's signal almost completely

Wierd...

Anyways, I went back and made sure all my pedals were at unity. Guess what: The Hema wasn't, and I think I unity'd (is that even a word???) the Goat TO that. Actually had to lower the volume and the blend of the Goat after that to get the right clean/dirty signal balance/sound as before. Now the PH is behaving a little more with the Goat, or at least managably so. Its still not as subtle as with the Hema (duh), but at least the PH doesn't spike my volume

Fuzz IS a funny thing!

"I united their gain"? Mmmmaybe... IMO the situation requires a little more explication, e.g. "I set item A to have unity gain with item B". Yeah, it's more awkward, but I just haven't heard anyone say they united the gain before.

While my point was mainly aimed at gentle smart-assery, I stand by the semantics. Having unity is the condition of being united, therefore setting A to have unity gain with B is the act of uniting them. While it may not be common (or even correct) jargon, it is correct based on the principles of the English language. Granted, your proposition of "I set item A to have unity gain with item B" most likely fits better within the nature and context of the discussion. Pardon my detour.

I gotta say that even if "unitied" is a made up (coined) word it is reasonably clear and eloquent in this context. You could have united or unified the gain, but unity being the common short hand, unitied would be an appropriate past tense.

He could've typed that he herfed the terf to the turpitty tee, and from a conversational standpoint, it would've been fine as long as he was understood. *I* was just goofing for the sake of levity, including my follow-up post, because honestly, what is more silly than correcting English on an international message board? Perhaps the humor was a bit too dry. Now, where did I put those smilies...?

Correct, we're having just as much dry fun as you were, Smurf, no criticism is meant and no apologies are warranted.

if you're not a voltage uniter, then you're a voltage divider.
