my new overdrive

Sign in to disble this ad
So I've got a new custom overdrive that I wanna show off. :>

Here's the sample:

http://centrum.art.pl/varia/my_new_overdrive.mp3

First my clean tone, than overdrive on with gain set to minimum and some delicate playing, than digging in harder, than gain at 12 o'clock and than max gain with booster on.

Signal path:
Rickenfaker (bridge pu soloed) -> Digitech Bass Squeeze -> Hartke VXL -> soundcard.

So, how do you like it? Sounds good? The high gain settings add a lot of high frequency harshness, but I think it can be tamed with a cab or cab sim.

This guy made it for me. He was pretty secretive about the design. I've never heard an overdrive which sounds so sweet on low gain settings.

Whoa, I'd pay $50 for that sound. Hook it up!

Remember that shipping from Poland to US can be quite expensive but anyway - PM sent.

Thanks. Even for nearly double that it would probably be worth my time. Any pedal in the double digit range is "cheap" to me.

Okay, dudes, I would still like to hear your opinions on this sound, from your reactions I take it it's quite pleasing to your ears? Does it sound similar to some other effect you've heard before?

Anytime I hear a clear + slightly dirty tone I get excited. Even when you have the gain pretty high, I can still hear what the bass sounds like. Reminds me of the character of a Fulltone Bass-Drive in FM mode, but with a different soul, if that makes sense.

I should have bought a Cream Pie when I could have, but didn't. Maybe this will fill that void.

Yeah, what I like about this box is that it retains a lot of clarity even without a blend knob. It also retains all my low end (checked with spectral analyser) but psycho-acoustically I hear that the signal loses some lows, but it's due to added high frequency content, I think. Even if I feed this box with an octaved signal (dry sound off) this overdrive adds a lot of high harmonics, I think it's pretty neat.

Yeah, when I delicately pluck the strings it gives me almost a clean tone (only a bit more growly) but when I play hard it overdrives a lot. It's really cool, but I think it wouldn't respond too well to active basses. But then again - I have none, so... ;>

Yeah, and since you use a um Rickenfaker-- it'd work well with my real Rickenbacker
