I checked buying a new bass amp off my list already and i need something else to fit in my tone niche. Ive been searching eyeburingly long and i think ive found a moderate little plan...
Way Huge angry troll (for boost/punch) (when im not using dist)
Artec volume pedal (cheap, versatile)
Digitech bass multi chorus (to thicken my tone/gimme some cool sounds)
Digitech grunge (for grit, od, distortion, etc) dont diss guitar pedals either! this thing is volatile
whatre your opinions/suggestions.... |

Without knowing what kind of gear you have (bass, amp, cab) and the style of music you play it's hard to really give any sort of response. |

The thing about effects is that they can become habit forming...I'm happy with what I have but I'm always thinking I might need some more (or just different). It doesn't help that fellow TB'er Behndy (as well as others) always have the newest toys, which leads to massive G.A.S.!!!! |

Originally Posted by JetBlackJazz I have a tc electronic bg500 combo amp and a squier jazz bass | Okay. That being the case why do you want a clean boost like the Angry Troll? I think of a clean boost as a tool for people using tube amps - which more often means guitarists than bassists. Will you be using it to transition from slap to fingerstyle or vice versa? Kicking it on for bass solos? Quote:
Originally Posted by JetBlackJazz i play metal, fusion, rock, prog, etc | Overdrive is probably a good choice for any and all of those genres. I'm not a fan of the Digitech Grunge on bass but if it works for you then rock it. If you'd like a low cost replacement that is more bass friendly try a modded Bad Monkey. Chorus could possibly fit in with all those genres too but would most likely be used a lot more sparsely than overdrive. Quote:

I hope you continue to engage... and learn.

It's part of the reason I like this site. I feel like I go out of my way to try and be helpful, but I suppose we all see things differently. |

Ignore them, there's bound to be a handful of people like that, but out of all the threads I've posted here (not many I might add) I've always had sufficient and very friendly help.
As far as your pedals go, sound like a pretty good set up. Chorus can be put to use very well when used appropriately.
Just a question, could you not just go for a multi-effects pedal? |

Just a question, could you not just go for a multi-effects pedal? | id prefer to be able to control everything and activate everything directly rather than just tap my foot and get a mushy mix of effects that takes like 1 minute to even fine tune... contrary to popular opinion |

Jared is always helpful and honestly the original post doesn't provide enough info to provide accurate help. For example, the angry troll as a front end boost would make perfect sense if u played thru a non master volume tube head like a svt-vr but wouldn't make much sense if u were a Gospel player using an epifani rig. I bet if u gave Jared (and the rest of us) some more info initially u would've got a bunch of helpful advice. |
