My new (vintage) DOD FX25 has a problem...

I bought into the DOD FX25 envelope filter hype and got one of the avocado green jobbies off of ebay. It arrived today.

There's a problem somewhere in the pedal. When the pedal is turned off, there is still a "bleed through" of the effect. It's kind of like a "light envelope" effect.

Any diagnosis here on what's causing the effect to continue even when "bypassed." (Disregarding the obvious, that there's something wrong with the bypass!)

I've tried it straight (Bass--> FX25 --> Amp) and through an effects loop (Bass-->PSM-5-->FX25-->PSM-5-->Amp). I've also tried it with the 9 Volt Adatper and with a battery. And I've tried it through two basses (active & passive), all with the same result.

I don't know if I'm stuck with it or not. The seller does not offer returns, so I may be SOL there. Fortunately I paid via Paypal, so I'm covered.

Suggestions? Comments?

Thanks,

Tim

The bypass on those old DOD units kind of sucked (I've got an FX75B that does the exact same thing), but fresh batteries make it less obvious.

Try a true analog bypass switch..you can set the DOD in the loop for it, but when you have the switch turned off it won't bleed through. It's better than having to return the pedal if you actually like the sound when you want it on

Yeah, as much as I love the old FX25's, they do develop weird failures pretty regularly, and the bypass was never very good. I keep mine in an external bypass loop.
