Question My Own Octave Dilemma - Too Many Octavers?

Sign in to disble this ad
Alright I have a long complicated chain.....but the real question is.....is 3 octavers a superfluous amount? I have a POG, Whammy 4, and a Boss OC2.

Each use

POG: perfect tracking...unique sound. not taking this out of my chain. i use it in conjunction with delays.

aghhh now the problem.

Boss OC2- use with fuzzes/filters....sounds great. small footprint!

Whammy 4- 1 octave down mainly....use various harmonies. love the sound and tracking isnt too bad TBH. also i use for some fast pitch shifts like in El Ten Eleven to do something a little different ...it's damn big and a pog and whammy 4 is lots of space. ****!

My problem is revolving around the idea that 3 octavers is possibly too much tonally and they are taking up tooooo much space. in addition, perhaps the Whammy 4 can cop a few of the tones the BOss OC2 is pumping out and that I can save some space by removing it (OC2). THe POG is definitely not going. But yeah.....the decisions...agggghhhhhhhh. Am I crazy?

I guess you have to ask yourself why you need to cut back on your pedals. If each one serves a purpose and you need them then why cut back? Until you get a single pedal that can do everything you want, there's no point.

I wouldn't say that it's too many unless you genuinely don't use em. I'd say that all three of those octavers can each do something different even though there is some overlap. If you were using all three of them for the same exact thing, then I'd say it's too many.

I'd say take the OC2 off your board for a few weeks, then put it back on. See if it thrills you afterwards!
