My pedal keeps dying....9v gets drained even when not used?

I have an EBS 3xfilter, and I use it about once a month. Battery is dead everytime I try and use it, even though I unplug all cords from it. Do I really have to unscrew it and take out the battery everytime I'm done using it?

If so I'm just gonna buy the DC adapter, but it's like $20

The in jack generally is a stereo jack and it connects the ground of the battery only when there's a cable in the jack. If the battery drains with all cables unplugged, there's something messed up in your jack.

However, my advice is to just get the power adapter. You'll spend $20 on batteries eventually, and especially with the issue you're having, you'll spend $20 on batteries very soon.

Batteries are bad!

The tabs or lugs on the stereo jack are most likely touching. Happens.

+1 to everything CJ just posted.

Wow! Johnson that is a great link, it really makes me rethink my pedal powering situation.

I currently only have 3 pedals (Boss TU-2, Wooly Mammoth, and an SFT) and I don't have a pedalboard because all of them fit in my bass-case really nice but I'm seriously thinking of getting a board and a power supply.

Got any good pedal power suggestions for 5-6 pedals with an 18v option aswell?

Not to hijack the thread, but check out the SKB StageFive PS-55. I just got one, and it's pretty solidly built, as well as having dual effects loops and a good assortment of power options, but it depends on your pedal setup.

Yes...but my next door neighbor gave me about 350 new 9V alkalines.

I was right in the middle of building a super filtered/regulated PS when he did, too. Funny...
