My pedal turns on when I plug it in.

My pedal turns on when I plug it in. For some reason, when I plug in my DC brick, the my Boss TR-2 automatically turns on. Is there any way to reverse this? I mean it's easy enough to just shut off obviously, and not that I don't love the effect, I just don't want to get a surprise someday at a show.

It is what it is man. You could get it true bypass modded and that might take care of it, but the pedal is designed to power up engaged.

Pretty sure that my PH-3 does this as well. You just got to deal. Sometimes my true bypass pedals come on as well, if I forgot to turn them off after I last used them.

My Boss SL-20 does the same thing. All my other pedals are true bypass and stay in the mode as they were when powered down.

Most Boss pedals turn on when they are powered up and plugged in. It's not that much of an inconvenience. I actually always go through all my pedals and turn them all on and off as soon as I plug them in anway to make sure that they're all getting power.

All of my Boss pedals - OC2, LS-2, PS-3, engage when powered on via daisy chain or adapter.

you'll have to true bypass it to stop it doing that!

For sure. I do the exact same thing. There have been too many times in the past where I had a bad connection and didn't check before hand.

My old V-wah did the same thing. Most annoying when my power supply went flaky on a gig. I couldn't work out where my low end was going. turns out the power was going off an on quickly, resulting on wah being engages in toe down position! Very annoying. Ended up completely bypassing the pedal board.

Every Boss pedal I've ever encountered does it. Sorry, dudesy.

Out of curiosity, what's this true bypass mod everyone is talking about?

just get a volume pedal or a mute/kill switch. Make sure it is off before you power up. No surprises. Actually, I just make sure the master on my amp is down before powering.

My boss pedals do this but I really don't see how it's that much of an inconvenience. It takes less than a second to turn it off.

I like mine that turn on....don't you test them anyway to see if they are all getting juice pre-practice/show? Then again I usually dial everything in quickly per playing location anywho.
