I mean, LOTS of cat hair!!!
I noticed that in the past week my Wilson Wah developed a bit of a scratchy noise midway up the sweep, so I opened it up today to give it blast of Deoxit and what do I find: a big clump of cat hair! I removed the clump, and spent a few minutes picking out the leftover stray hairs, then applied the Deoxit to the potentionmeter. Thankfully, its works wonderfully again.
Lesson learned; if your wah has ANY open space around the arm that operates the potentiomenter and you have pets, block that hole when you're not using it! Better yet, put your pedalboard on a surface off your floor - less pet hair and dust can get in it! I found an old piece of cloth I'm using as a gasket to keep it sealed whenever I'm not using it from now on.
Or, you could shave your cat. |
