Bass Octave Deluxe, Bass Envelope Filter, Carbon Copy and a what looks like a very promising bass compressor. MXR has stepped up their bass offerings quite a bit.

And since they're all under the same umbrella you could add in a couple Way Huge pedals for dirt (Pork Loin especially) and maybe ring mod (Ringworm looks impressive) and a Dunlop bass wah and a MXR modulation pedal or two and you've got a massively cool board.

Nice.

Exciting stuff, they've brought out some awesome bass pedals recently, hope this one's up there with 'em!

You'll have to go backward in the countdown, as we had a thread about this a couple weeks ago.

It does look very, very promising, at least in terms of what can be seen on the surface.

The ratio knob looks like it may be a 4 position switch.

I wonder if it's a completely original compression circuit or if it is borrowing from an existing one. Certainly doesn't seem to be a OS or Ross clone, that's for sure. I love the Ratio, Attack and Release controls and the LED indication. But how is the threshold controlled? Is it a fixed threshold and you change the level of the input signal? I could see that being the case with the output being the makeup gain to get back to unity or slightly above, but otherwise I'm not sure how that setup works.

I will say I'm not a fan of the MXR Blowtorch or El Grande, but they are certainly creeping up in the category of "manufacturer I'd choose if I had to have a board of just one brand".

Ever since that thread came up I think about that notion. It's a good way to look at a manufacturer's whole line.

Of course, right now the winner in that race for me would be Iron Ether, but MXR is definitely stepping up their game as it relates to bass players.

You use the input to control your signals interaction with a fixed threshold. It really works just as well as a threshold control.

Yeah, same here. I'd probably go all-MXR if they put out decent od and fuzz pedals (and a tuner). I hate how big my EVH Flanger is, and how I have to run it at 18v, but it sounds SO GOOD that I could never get rid of it. Definitely planning on getting a carbon copy this year.

Answered my own questions. The new pedals are already on the MXR site.

Yep. There are some instances where it doesn't work so great, due to lame values chosen by the pedal maker... but then that's true of the other way as well--a threshold knob with a fixed input level can be lame too, if not designed well. So yeah they are equal in principle.
