n00b to the effects thing...got a dumb question

hello effects forum!

my buddy gave me 5 pedals or so, and I have a hartke bass attack DI box

I just bought an SKB PS-45 for 85 dollars...wooot wooot!

(there is another one in the nyc area, pm me for info)

so, do any of you guys/gals put your wireless reciever on your pedal board?

got any pics?

is that smart to do, or is it better to just run the efects chain outta the effects loop.......

and keep the wireless box near the amp head....

I have a sennheiser gw-172, so it is sturdy metal type construction...

thanks for all the info...and I guess I should post up some photos of my new toy (ps45) and toys (pedals)

Some people place the wireless receiver on their pedalboard. Depending on how big it is and if they can spare the space.
(would be hard to do with a rack unit

)

I would not use the effects loop just for the sake of your wireless.
I see no logic why that idea came in your head. (no offense

)

If I were getting a wireless (not a priority for me right now) I'd place it on top of my amp, or in the rack,
wireless out --> pedalboard in
pedalboard out --> amp regular input
I wouldn't mind 2 cables on the floor when going wireless... actually there's already 2 cables on the floor without wireless.

uhm...the effects out on my amp, I just figured that is how I should hook in the pedal train

I have a GB shuttle 6.0

so, I guess I have to just mess around with the stuff and see what happens...

any other suggestions would be cool!

Effect pedals are generally designed to run at instrument level. The effects loop is for line-level rackmount gear. Having said that, try it out, see what works for you.

effects out on your amp... that's the effect loop of your amp on the backside you mean I assume

That's actually best for line-level effects and processors, not ideal for instrument level pedals.
(to hook up a rack compressor or rack equalizer for example)

You can place pedals in the effect loop, but contraty to it's name it's not designed for your effect pedals. (But there is no harm in doing this.)

Best thing to do is to go from wireless directly to your pedalboard, from your pedalboard to the regular input on the front of your amp.

well, the more I play around, and think about it, you are making sense

I mean I am understanding what you are saying

the rack mount stuff for the effects loop, low level

the pedal board stuff for the instrument level

check! got it....

oh, and yes i believe you, I am just trying to figure this out...no offense hopefully....(yes, I was a Tenderfoot First Class, I think....was a while ago...so, Scout's Honor back at yah!)

I'm belgian, you can't offend me that easily.

Yup experimenting is the key.
There's no rule set in stone.

I once played a BOSS Bass Chorus in the effects loop of a Trace Elliot and that actually sounded very good. Before the amp input it sounded a bit more dull.
But from my experience overdrive and distortions don't work well in the effects loop.

angle up the receiver, and mount is somehow, with a little ramp if I have to

and then mount and wire in the rest of the stuff....

----remember, this is the early stages of a bass players thoughts on pedals...I never never use them!

so young and fresh, pure like the driven snow! hehehehe
