Nano Soul Preacher for bass? General concensus

Sign in to disble this ad
I did a search and found nothing really saying if it works well for bass or not so need your opinions. Just need a compressor that works without losing the bottom end. So Those of you that have used it is it worth it or is there something you likje better?

Ouch. That is like the definitive compressor FAQ.

They suck bottom. Sound nice on upper register stuff.

Yeah Bongo I read your thread and it is very informative I just thought I would get a few opinions but As I see from others here and other forums they don't work well for bass.
Thanks for the information and BTW great List of comps and reviews you have there.

Au contraire...

I thought it worked great for bass! No noticeable bottom-end loss or anything like that.

It does have other quirks, though (like adding a little top-end, and some white noise). I sold it because you can find much better compressors for the price if you're looking for something clean and fairly low-noise. The Soul Preacher is more of a niche pedal, since it's better at squishing than at clean compression. It has an odd but very musical sound regardless, so it's not a bad compressor, IMO.

Seek out my review if you're interested! I didn't like it at first until I tweaked the gain trimpot inside. On the trimpot's stock setting, your bass will heavily overdrive the compressor. You need to turn it back quite a bit...
