About a year ago I was looking for a good Fuzz pedal to round out my sound. I was already using a Nobels Natural Overdrive, but wanted another, fuzzier, counterpart. After reading some reviews and looking here and there I decided to go with the Seymour Duncan TweakFuzz.
After buying it I had some trouble getting the right settings on this puppy. There are 6 diffferent 'Tweak' tones, and I really only found 2 of them to be usable with my basses, as the other 4 setting were horribly 'tinny' sounding, really thin. I did finally find a place where I was happy with it, but never thought it was the perfect fuzz I was looking for.
The lead guitarist told me he had a Big Muff that he was no longer using. He had let his girlfriend use it, but they broke up a while back. He had recently gotten the pedal back in his possesion. He had been talking about possibly trading me for my tweakfuzz.
So, last night I plug it in. Instantly I knew. Why did I not go this route in the first place? Shame on me! Anyway, I am the proud new owner of one Big Muff.

I don't know if they were properly powering them but I know they were both dissatisfied. It just seemed to lack headroom for them.
I've never used one myself but I love my Supercollider which is a tuned Muff circuit with heinous amounts of lowend. |

Also, warwick, you said two guitarists were dissatisfied, not two bassists!

Might as well just go for the Bass Big Muff, same price range, but designed for bass. No silly 1/8th jack powering issues, just standard Boss style 9v -ve tip and it has a much smaller footprint to boot. |

I have the tone set to my liking, if it didnt lose any of the low end it would just sound like mud, so I dont mind the slight drop in low end. My amp is eq'd just perfectly to accomodate that.
No issue with the 1/8" jack, I already had the converting wire that came with my 1-spot.
The footprint doesnt matter either, as I use a small board for the other 4 pedals Im running, and this sits just off it it to the right, in place of my bass wah - practically the same footprint, only now Im using a lighter pedal.
