I’m sure this question must come up incredibly frequently here, and as it’s only my second-ever post, I hope it’s not a forbidden subject~!. I did read the effects FAQ, and read the attached links, but I was hoping to get an answer that’s more specific to the type of effects I use, if that’s okay.
A few years ago I had my pedalboard set-up nicely, and I was quite pleased with the sound. I never wrote down the order of the effects, though, and after I moved, I had to re-set them up, and I’m not sure I set them up the same way. I’m still pretty pleased with the overall tone, but recently I’ve been experiencing a lot of hiss and hum and general “noise”. I just got new cables, so it’s not that. I’m somewhat poor at the moment, so rather than buy a line silencer type effect, I’d rather make sure I have the effects set up to eliminate as much hum and hiss as possible.
So, my question: what is the best way to set-up the following effects to eliminate as much “noise” as possible?
The effects are all fed into my beloved Boss LS-2 Line Switcher
The effects that are going into the LS-2 Line One are always on. The effects going into LS-2 Line Two are on when needed.
Going into the LS-2 Line One:
Boss Tu-2 Tuner>
Mutron Phasor II>
DOD TR3B Multi Effect (chorus, EQ, compressor)
Going into LS-2 Line Two (effects I use as needed):
Electro-Harmonix Q-Tron>
Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi
From the pedalboard I have both sets of effects going into a two-input BBE Sonic Maximizer; line one into one BBE input, LS-2 into the second BBE input.
If the information helps, these are all going to a SWR LA 100 watt amp, and my main basses are a Epiphone Viola, a Epiphone SG 5 string, and an old Yamaha RBX.
Thanks~!!
