Question Need advice from ZOOM B1 users

Sign in to disble this ad
HI Team, I have just bought a ZOOM B1 as my first multi FX box. The sounds are okay and will suit my use but how on earth do you use it as a stompbox.

I can't work out how to bypass it or turn it off other than setting up 'clean' patches either side of the few FX I use.

That is to say I have the patch with no effect and when I tap up or down the next patch will have the effect I need. I then tap up or down to the next 'clean' patch to turn it off.

I'm hoping there's a simple stupid thing I have missed and will gladly look like an idiot if I have

Will the optional foot switch achieve what I am after?

Any and all advice appreciated

Rule #1 regarding multi-effect devices : read the damn manual. Don't expect anything good from them until you know the functions.

Setting them up clean on either side of each patch is a good way to go, though. That way any tone butcher emergency is only a frantic reach away from being bypassed.

I don't doubt you read it, but I don't believe that you familiarized yourself with it very well, because the info is in there. Page 16 of the manual says that the auxiliary footswitch is for switching banks, or for tap tempo functions. So you pretty much have to select wide boot or every other.

Hey Ease off. Some of us have only a few precious minutes in any one day for for our effects passion. That's what this place is for - a little help from our friends.

Read the manual? Bah! How are you going to learn how to abuse pedals if you read the manual? You think manuals ever discussed self-oscillation in analog delays before someone accidentally discovered how to do it? Hah! No, they tried to hide it from people so they wouldn't freak out!

Throw your manuals out, don't do a search on TB, swim right after a meal, walk in the freezing rain shirtless, and eat the yellow snow!!!

Straight out of the box I never met such a confusing pedal. Unless it's set to play mode - you get nothing. Then you have to crank up the forever endless turning volume knob, so you don't know where you are- which returns to zero when switched off unless you save the patch. Some of the patches are excellent. The chorus & reverbs & octave Bass are fantastic. Great value for money. I agree one needs to read the manual for everything - however there are times when we just want it to work & work NOW. We've all been there - you know it - you’re just not admitting it ! The manual is not the best either. Patience and softer hitting drummers make life even more enjoyable.
