Need Effects Suggestion

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm working on a new pedalboard project and am hoping for some suggestions.

I have a Pedaltrain Jr. with a Tech 21 MIDIMouse, Radial Bassbone, Peterson Strobostomp, and Boss OC-2. My 3Leaf Groove Regulator is arriving in a couple of days.

So, I have room for one more pedal. To integrate it into my pedalboard, it would have to be no more than 2 1/2" wide and run off of 9V power.

I mainly play funk/rock/jam type stuff. I've been thinking about a Fuzz like the Electronix Messdrive (which I'd have to find used) or a Phaser like the Phase 90. But I'm open to suggestions. Strange is good, $150 or less also works great for me.

I'm also thinking about a wah style pedal I could put beside the board, but I don't really need/want a wah or volume pedal. I'm thinking more like a Digitech Whammy or something similar. It would also need to run off of 9v power.

Thanks!

You've got an octave and a filter on the way...
Yessir, you need fuzz.

Yeah, after reading this again, a fuzz is definitely what you need.
I'll suggest the Supercollider.

Here's a pic of the pedalboard. I actually shifted some stuff around and made more room, so some of the bigger pedals suggested might work out.

I think I'm definitely thinking fuzz now...I'm not a big fan of the Muff tone, which eliminates most of the EHX stuff. The Supercollider also sounds kind of "Muffy" to me, but maybe it was just the Youtube video I saw.

I'm going to hold off a little while and work with the stuff I have, see what kind of fuzz I might be visualizing in our tunes. But I liked the demos I've seen of the Prunes & Custard.

Thanks, everybody!

The Supercollider is a Muff circuit which might explain it's muffy sound. I think I really want an OLC Chunky Cheese for a different flavor of Fuzz. Give that a look. I think the artist formerly known as TheBigO did a review of that one.

No dis on your tuner choice but,...man,...could they have made those stobostomps any bigger and uglier? What a hog.

EDIT: .:Begins Search of "MidiMouse":.

I'll have to check out the Chunky Cheese. Not one I'm familiar with...

Agreed on the size/shape of the Strobostomp. But I do seem to notice a difference vs. other tuners when it comes to my fretless instruments, so I'm considering it a necessary evil.
