Ok.. so I'm new to the world of pedals. I played through a Boss OD-3 overdrive pedal that a friend of mine had... and I must say it sounded pretty sweet. But, what would YOU guys suggest as your favorite overdrive pedals? Also, what other effects do you use?

I play through either an Ampeg SVT-VR --> SWR Megoliath OR through an Orange AD200 --> my custom built 4x12.

There are so many choices, it's impossible to suggest one over another. But, if you liked the Boss pedal.........

That's why I was asking the preferences of other "pedal pros" on here. I don't guess I'd ever need a tube emulator overdrive pedal since I use tube amps!

Start with your ears and work from there. If you liked the boss, then I'd just roll with it. You can spend a fortune and a lifetime exploring overdrive pedals.

or exploring fuzzes and making great knowledge databases in form of blogs out of them

yes, we all know you, fuzz geek!!

Seriously now, and risking a battering, boss one is great to start with, cause of the possibilities. Overdrive is a world of it's own: I spent a little fortune on them, ended up with one of THE overdrive pedals that started everything: Tubescreamer 9. Guitar pedal, yes, but somehow it works for me. Your ears are in charge (and your wallet, of course).

Well... I'm glad to hear the Boss is a good place to start. I don't have immediate access to his, and I only used it once... but from what I remember I liked it. So i'll be added that to my arsenal soon.

Keep checkin' the classifieds on this board. They turn up every so often and they're always on the ebayz...

Worst case scenario is you have to sell it...and if you sell it here, it'll get scooped up!
