Need help with MXR El Grande Bass fuzz

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a Mxr El Grande bass fuzz the other day.

I have a problem with it as every time I turn the pedal on and try and turn the fuzz and volume on the pedal up or try to turn the volume up on the amp, this big wall of squealing feedback happens whenever your not playing a note. i'm almost positive its not supposed to do that because countless reviews say it is a really good pedal.

i have got the official power supply so that's not the problem.
I use a epiphone EB-0 (a lot of people don't like Gibson bass's but i love them for some reason.) I have this really crappy practice amp that i run it through though. it is a 20w volcano amp.

Please help if anybody knows what might be wrong.

I don't have an El Grande bass fuzz but it sounds to me like your just driving the little practice amp too hard. You can minimize feedback by turning the bass pickups away from the speaker. It shouldn't squeal if the pickups are facing away from the amp like you were on a stage. Also, check that none of your amps settings are at an extreme boost. If you have the treble cranked on the amp it will actually help produce the squealing feedback.

Ate you running it on battery? Is it dead? Or separate power supply? Also going from a 20wat practices amp to a 30 Watt amp will do nothing but put a bigger hole in your wallet. Maybe think about something at least 150w or more especially if you are gonna play with others
