Need A Little Boss VF-1/MIDI Help- Turning Off Effects From My MIDI Controller

I'm not great with understanding MIDI changes, and the manual is typical Boss confusion , so can anyone out there give me a quick run-through on how I can turn all effects on and off using my controller (Nobels MF-2)?

I'm not familiar with the specific devices at hand, but in general the trick with MIDI is to make sure your devices are talking on the same channel, that one is set to send and the other to receive, and that you have identified the controller numbers of the functions you want to switch. Once you've got all that dialed in correctly, everything should work fine... but of course some manufacturers have to go and do some proprietary BS in their MIDI implementation, either as a move to keep people buying the one brand only, or out of sheer dunderheadedness on the part of the designers.

It probably doesn't help that neither manual seems like it was originally written in English I can get teh VF-1 set to recieve certain MIDI control channels- I'll see if I can figure out how to set the Nobels to send on the same channel.

Took a look through my Nobels manual again and while I'm not too clear on all the tech info, it doesn't appear that my controller sends CC messages.

a good controller is the FCB1010 because you can program it through your computer which is super-easy

i know that doesn't help the situation at hand, but thats the best I can do

Good god, what does it do then? Is it in fact a MIDI controller?

Yep. Up until now I've only been using program/bank changes with my Looperlative and VF-1, except for when using my expression pedals. Now that I'm finally getting ot more advanced controlling, I may need to get a new controller altogether
