Need to replace a Bass Blogger....

Sign in to disble this ad
It took me quite a while to find a fuzz that I was comfortable with, and ended up blissful with a used Bass Blogger. I was happy until the unit I have started acting funky! It will not work if I have any other pedals in my signal chain...WEIRD!!! It was working fine for a bit in a nice loop that I set up with a phaser and envelope filter, but now I get nothing.

I really liked the fuzz of the pedal. Not too aggressive, or harsh. The notes are easily defined when playing rapidly, yet I found the overdrive portion virtually useless.

I'm considering trying a different pedal, as not to have a useless function such as that overdrive on the pedal. Anyone have any suggestions on a replacement that gets close to the Bass Blogger? Not looking for an B:Assmaster, El Grande, Big Muff, XXL, or Blowtorch; not the sound that I'm looking for.

What is your powering setup for the Blogger?

Are you using a battery? A daisy chain such as the 1spot or Dunlop DC Brick? Are you using it's own power adapter?

From the EHX Website: EHX.com | Bass Blogger - Instructions | Electro-Harmonix

Quote:
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: The Bass Blogger will not work with the same power adaptor that is daisy chained to other pedals in its signal chain. Please run the Bass Blogger off of its own power adapter or a battery. The battery will last a long time.

Power from the internal 9-volt battery is activated by plugging into the INPUT jack and engaging the effect with the Footswitch. To disconnect power either press the Footswitch so the LED is off or remove the input cable. Whether you use a battery or an external AC Adapter, the Bass Blogger powers up only when a plug is inserted into the INPUT jack and the LED is on.

The optional 9V power supply from Electro-Harmonix is 9.6DC-200BI (same as used by Boss(tm) & Ibanez(tm)) 9.6 Volts DC 200mA. The battery eliminator must have a barrel connector with center negative. The battery may be left in or taken out when using an eliminator.

WHOA!!!! DIG THAT!!!! That explains alot!!! I had a battery in it that was dying, so I pulled it and plugged it into my DC Brick and that's when it stopped working!

Wow! I really learned something today.

Thanks for the info!

EHX pedals are selfish and difficult to mix with others. They have to have a dedicated power supply and some of the pedals use funky voltages like 12v instead of industry standard 9v or 18v.

I ran into the same thing with the Bass MicroSynth. It gets its own power circuit.
