Need to replace Line 6 Floor POD, GAS clouding judgement

Sign in to disble this ad
Line 6 Floor POD broke. Should I replace this with another identical pedal, or upgrade to a Bass POD XT Live, or a BOSS ME 50B, or buy a seperate Compressor(BBE opto stomp) , and Overdrive pedal (ODB-3 or SansAmp BDDI), and Octave Pedal (OC3). My preference would be to buy all of the above, damn GAS

Truly, GAS should not cloud your judgment, it should utterly obliterate your judgment.

With overdrives more than just about any other effect, try before you buy. Or be prepared to buy and sell a few before landing on one you like.

As a former Bass POD user, get separate effects.

this. i had a Bass POD XT Live, a POD XT Live, and then a POD XT Live again, and as convenient as it was, the M9 is better, and separate effects are even better than that.

yeah.... i've always hated the preamps that come in the POD stuff.

the M9 is GOOD.... separate are better... but a huge investment, time and money both.

SansAmpDI with an M9 should cover everything the POD could be better. just look into some dirt/fuzz.... the M9's distortions are were it falls short.

If you like boss processors and you're on a tight budget, the boss me-20b would be a good choice. it got the effects you're looking for and it's pretty easy to use. another good choice for a multi-effects processor would be a zoom b2.1u. I own one and it sounds pretty cool.

Here's the candidates for the distortion replacements pedals, although I may need to get more than one to accomadate the flexibility of the multieffects.

Boss ODB-3
Bad Monkey
Sanamp BDDI
Bass Muff

I really have no idea about compression. The Line 6 Floor POD was my first pedal with any compression and the band loved it, so I feel I need to replace that aspect of the sound processing. (the SVT 5PRO's compression is a joke. biamp mode all it does it eat the lows) - so suggestions of compressors would be great.

I would love to have a multi channel preamp with compression. Something I could plug my Fretted, Fretless and Upright into for quick switches between the instruments

just curious, why are you limiting your distortion selection to those pedals?

on my main board i REALLY like my Way Huge Swollen Pickle (giggety), and i just picked up a Blackout Effectors Musket for my second, smaller board.

and that thing melts FACES. then makes the face melty residue into soup. then feeds that soup to CHILDREN. then gets rid of the child's parents in a dramatic way. then waits till the child stews in revenge fantasies for 20 years and becomes Batman. then melts HIS face.

so, to sum up, it MELTS BATMAN'S FACE!!!

I want a OD pedal that will blend clean and distortion channels like my 5pro, thats my fav feature of my heavy brutish amp, that Id like to emulate with my lightweight rig.

Whether it be a lopass filter that allows me to distort only the highs, or something with a true blend, im open to suggestions
